WAXED BASKET THREAD
For tieing rims and handles. Tan color. See other cords as well,
especially hemp, artificial sinew and waxed linen. |
FID
Made as a leather-working tool, has a diamond-shaped flat in the
middle of the blade, blunt point. Blade is 2½" long, the
fid is 5" over-all. |
BONE AWL
Made from genuine bone. A hardened, unfeeling finger, to poke
ends and courses of weaving painlessly into place. 5¾"
long. Packing tool. |
BONE LASHING AWL
Made from white bone and shaped like the plain bone awl; one end
is pointed and grooved. |
HOLE CUTTER/LASHING GUIDES
Made as pottery tools and called hole-cutters, these serve
well as lashing guides for basketry. They are short metal tubes
cut at an angle to form a channel, set into a wooden handle. Two
sizes. |
END-TUCKER
Poke the tip through from below, thread sticking-out reed lengths
through the eye at the tip, and pull back through to snug up loose
ends. |
AWLS
The smallest awl with the wooden handle (# 0) is our most popular.
The unpretty plastic-handled awls are near to indestructible. #1
and #2 are best for most basket applications.
BASKET WEAVING NEEDLES
Large-eyed, blunt tipped, steel. |
