BASKETRY: Swing & "U" Handles

“U” HANDLES
Lightweight wood strips, bent into a “U”. Also called “handle filler strips”. Dimensions (inches): length along handle, stock width.
ROUND NOTCHED “U” HANDLES
Carved from square stock ash. No handholds. Dimensions: span, height above notch, stock width.
TALL SQUARE NOTCHED “U” HANDLES
With a carved heart-shaped handhold. Dimensions: span, height above notch, stock width.
SWING HANDLES
These have a pivoting joint half way up the legs, held by a wooden button, so that the basket swings from its handle. Dimensions are span at base, height above pivot, stock width.
HAMPER SWINGS
The legs connect at the bottom — like a market “D” jointed about halfway up.Dimensions are span at the base, overall height (top of handle to bottom of base), stock width.
ROUND SWINGS WITH “U” EARS
The legs end in holes through which “ear’s” hook. Span at base, height above pivot, stock width.
