PAPERMAKING: Tools
Remember: the pour method makes paper by pouring slurry through the
deckle (a mold or frame with a screen bottom). The dip method uses the
mold like a scoop.
Screens, couch (pronounced "cooch") sheets and handmolds
each comes in two sizes, matched in sets. The smaller size makes sheets
5.5" x 8.5", the larger one 8.5" x 11" (half
and whole sheets of standard letter-sized paper). The templates
come in the same two sizes.
PAPERMAKING SCREEN & COVER SCREEN
Specifically designed and woven for papermaking, these will last a lifetime
with proper care. Sealed edges prevent fraying. Packaged with cover screen
and care tips.
COUCH SHEETS
Specially made to absorb water from wet paper without damaging new sheets.
Use at least two for each sheet you are making. Dry to reuse.
POUR HANDMOLDS
Hardwood handmold with hook and loop straps, paper making screen, cover
screen, screen support grid, 2 couch sheets, illustrated direction sheet.
DIP HANDMOLDS
Comes with screen, illustrated directions for making paper and instructions
for using botanicals. Includes a packet of botanicals to get you started.
