Tools & Supplies
For a basic description of this curious process, click HERE.
BOOKS (cover pictures at left)
NEEDLE FELTING Art Techniques and Projects
(by Anne Einset Vickrey, spiralbound)
An introduction to an exciting new method for creating fiber
art. Designed to guide the beginner through simple projects, the book
also hasnuseful information for the experienced needle felter. Five projects
increase in difficulty as you work through the book. More advanced techniques
include sculpting a face and combining wet and dry feltmaking techniques
to make a fairy doll.
THE FELTING NEEDLE (by Ayala Talpai, spiralbound)
“From Factory to Fantasy, Working Wool without Water & Related
Matters”. (Four needles included). These barbed needles are used
industrially to compact many different fibers. The author has adapted
the process to use single needles to hand-felt a variety of fantastical
objects and creatures. Instructions for specific projects included.
FELTING NEEDLES
FELTING NEEDLE ASSORTMENT (tsAT02)
A set of 5 assorted long felting needles, for exploration and experimentation
with dry felting techniques. Includes two 6-barb standard, and three 9-barb
(one each standard, close and fine). Can be purchased separately, if you
prefer.
MULTI-NEEDLE FELTING TOOLS
These look very much like wooden dresser knobs. They have 2 parts
that screw together, holding the needles firmly in place. The first holds
up to 6 needles in a ring (comes with 3 needles), the second up to 12
in two concentric rings (comes with 6).
WORK PAD
A piece of foam makes a good work surface.
