All Ashford Spinning Wheels except the Joy arrive as kits with assembly instructions. All wheels (again, except the Joy) are made of New Zealand Silver Beech, an attractive and durable hardwood. Various finishes are available. We list four wheels and some accessories here; Ashford offers much more – please ask for details.

The Traditional is an excellent first wheel. Comes single or double drive. Easy to learn on, it takes a variety of add-on kits that adapt it to specialized forms of spinning.These include a lace flyer, 2 styles of jumbo flyer, a quill, flax distaff, double-treadle conversion and (for the double-drive) a high-speed kit. Unfinished, natural finish or walnut finish. Left-handed version is available. The Traveller is a good choice if size and portability are a consideration. A castle wheel with a built-in lazy kate. Choose single-drive or double-drive. Most of the accessories which fit the Traditional will also fit the Traveller. The Elizabeth is the fairy-tale wheel, saxony type, with a sloping table and ornate wood turning. The metal parts are brass. It comes in a double-drive style (convertible to single-drive). The twelve spoke wheel and intricate turnings maker a truly elegant wheel. It also takes most of the accessory kit options. The Joy is the ultimately portable wheel. It is ultra light weight and folds up to fit inside a carry bag. It has scotch tension and four flyer ratios for fine to chunky novelty yarns.The bobbins fit into the frame and the board folds flat. Choose single or double treadle. This wheel comes to you assembled, lacquered and ready to go. Made from strong furniture grade plywood.
