WEAVING: Cardweaving,
Inkle & Rigid-Heddle Looms
CARDWEAVING CARDS
The smallest of “looms”. Cards are square with a round hole at each
rounded corner. The warp goes through the holes of several cards held
side by side. “Sheds” are made by rotating cards. The simplest kind
of weaving equipment, but not the simplest kind of weaving. Ask for
basic instructions, free with cards.
CARD-WEAVING STARTER SET
Includes 25 cards, a belt shuttle, 3 colors of weaving cotton and basic
instructions. Also includes dowels and cord to make a simple back-strap
set-up (covered in instructions).
INKLE LOOMS
For belts and bands. Will weave up to 6" wide, does best from 2–4".
Takes warps up to 8½ feet long, made of maple, one peg adjusts
to control tension (Schacht uses the most forward, Beka the second one
in). Both are unfinished, Beka's comes with a shuttle. Open sided for
easy warping. Instructions included.
BEKA RIGID-HEDDLE LOOMS: SERIES SG
Two widths, either takes warps up to 4½ yards long. Includes
2 shuttles, pick-up stick, threading hook, hole-&-slot heddle (10
dent/inch). Complete instructions. Sturdy, pretty cherry wood. SG looms
have taught thousands to weave. The stand keeps your hands free and
gives your loom a place to live.
EXTRA RIGID-HEDDLES
For RH (see "Looms for Kids") or SG looms, or for backstrap weaving. Specify 8, 10 or 12 dents
per inch.
