A chisel has a straight cutting edge,
a gouge has a curved one.
A parting tool has two straight edges joined at an angle,
and is technically a chisel.
A “skew” or “corner” chisel has its blade cut at an angle to the
shank. The “sweep” is the print of the cutting edge.
